With a record amount of snow falling on the Southern Alps and being only a 2 hour drive away it would be rude not to go for a spot of skiing. It would also be rude not to take all my camera gear on the off chance there were some shots to be taken. I must say I’m very impressed by the steely nerve and determination of the French drivers. I was a nervous wreck driving from Isola Village up to the ski fields. Even with snow chains our poor little rental car was fish tailing all over the place. I don’t think the French drivers even knew the roads were covered in ice and snow taking the racing line ever corner and using plenty of speed and momentum to get up the steep dangerous roads.
After two successful days of skiing it was time to head down the mountain. When driving in first gear for 16km you really get to connect with the surrounding landscape. Scenes of beauty simply don’t flash by, you can see them coming with more than enough time to react. I was really captivated by this location for obvious reasons. The snow perfectly simplifies the scene removing almost all distracting elements. I could get used to living here…
Good to see you back in landscape action after settling into the France posting.
You are catching and crafting some beautiful shots – I love this one. You must have photoshopped out all the rabbit paw prints! Snow soooo pristine.
Hi Wilfried,
Good to hear from you, I hope all is well with you. No prints in this one other than the wolf (or whatever it was) that walked up to the tree. It must have scared them off!
